The Vienna sports daily reports that one of Germany’s most famous footballing figures trainer will be confirmed as the Austria national football team’s new head coach as early as tomorrow.

Ralf Rangnick appears on the move yet again. His advisory/interim stint with Manchester United nearing its finish, a Vienna sports daily reports that Rangnick will be presented to the ÖFB board tomorrow as the new Austria national team head-coach. The Austrian source goes on to boldly proclaim that the “sensation” will be confirmed after an unanimous vote.
Rangnick was one of the German names linked with the position several weeks ago. Purportedly, ÖFB sporting CEO Peter Schöttel met with the 63-year-old in London sometime late last month. If the story is true, the head-coaching position of Germany’s neighbor will remain in German hands. Rangnick follows Franco Foda, the first-ever German to helm the team.
While not specifically denying the rumors, Rangnick’s agent merely noted that he “did not wish to engage in speculation” when contacted for comment. Rangnick built two current Bundesliga clubs–TSG 1899 Hoffenheim and RB Leipzig–effectively from the ground up during respective five-year stints in charge.
