Glasgow Rangers have been handed a major injury boost ahead of their upcoming Scottish Premiership clash.
What’s the latest?
In recent comments cited by The Scotsman, Giovanni van Bronckhorst revealed that he is confident Alfredo Morelos will be fit for Gers’ visit to Dundee United on Sunday, despite the fact the 25-year-old was rumored to have taken a knock in the 4th -2 Europa League win over Borussia Dortmund in midweek.
Speaking about the current condition of the centre-forward, the Dutchman said: “No, he wasn’t injured. I think he was just exhausted and tired because of the performance he put in – not only with the ball but also his defensive responsibilities which he did really well together with the others. So I don’t think he will be a doubt for Sunday. I think he will be fit.”

Major boost
Considering just how important a player Morelos has been for Rangers since Van Bronckhorst took over from Steven Gerrard back in November, the fact that the Colombia international will be fit to face The Tangerines this weekend will undoubtedly have left the 47-year-old manager buzzing .
Indeed, in the 12 fixtures in which the £11.7m-rated hitman has played under the Dutch coach, Morelos has bagged a quite astonishing 10 goals and provided his teammates with four assists – directly contributing to a goal every 74 minutes of football played since Van Bronckhorst’s arrival.
More generally, the £33k-per-week striker has also been highly impressed over his 21 Premiership outings this season, scoring 11 goals, registering five assists and creating nine big chances for his teammates, as well as taking an average of 4.6 shots and making 1.9 key passes per game.
These returns have seen the 25-year-old average a rather remarkable SofaScore match rating of 7.37, ranking him as the sixth-best player in the Scottish top flight.
As such, it is clear for all to see that the availability of the centre-forward for the trip to the fourth-placed Dundee United on Sunday will undoubtedly provide Rangers’ chances of taking all three points back to Ibrox with a major boost – with a victory being all but essential in Gers’ bid to retain their Premiership title this season.
