The Austrian Football Association (ÖfB) is keeping tabs on Bayern Munich’s Germany U17 international Paul Wanner.
“We became aware of Paul last year and began looking at him toward the end of the year,” said ÖfB sporting director Peter Schöttel.
The son of a German father and an Austrian mother, the 16-year-old is eligible to play for both countries.
Schöttel, however, knows that convincing the highly-rated youngster to play for Austria rather than Germany could prove difficult.
“I know that Paul has big goals, wants to win everything with Bayern and also become world champion.”
Wanner made his senior debut for Bayern in January and has featured three times for the German champions this season.
