Speaking after Borussia Dortmund’s 3-0 win at Union Berlin on Sunday afternoon, head coach Marco Rose praised the reaction and performance of his squad after moving to within six points of Bayern Munich.
“In the first half we were very dominant with the ball, then of course the opponent can’t score goals,” Rose told DAZN. “In the second, we gave up control a bit but it was important and good that we kept a clean sheet today.”
BVB captain Marco Reus scored a first-half brace and operated centrally in the absence of Erling Haaland: “From there he can serve his teammates and become a goal threat himself. It was already clear to us that that is more his role, where he can play in the half-spaces and work towards goal. He played a very good game today,” added Rose.
Looking ahead to Thursday’s Europa League game against Rangers, Rose said: “For us, it’s about winning games. We kept a clean sheet today, we can build on that but we still have a lot of work ahead of us. In the second half, we lost too many balls and allowed a few chances to score. We’ll take the win, look forward to Thursday and hopefully pick up speed.”
