The French defender was financially sanctioned by his club, in a substantial way (300,000 euros), after the indignation that the video where he mistreated his cat raised.
In an interview given to SunWest Ham vice-chairman Karren Brady explains the club’s position on Kurt Zouma: “Let me be clear: it is not possible to defend his actions. His behavior in no way reflects the values we hold dear. Our position has been the same since the start. We condemn his actions and will never tolerate any form of animal cruelty. We imposed a maximum fine on him. »
If the Frenchman’s attitude is not tolerated, the club now wants to accompany its defender on the path to redemption: “Kurt (Zouma) agrees that every penny of his fine will be donated to animal protection associations. We believe this is absolutely the right thing to do. Kurt also contributes fully to the investigation carried out by the RSPCA (the English SPA). I think it is important at this point to emphasize that he is fully aware of the seriousness of his actions. (…) He is full of remorse. He sincerely apologized. This is an important first step towards redemption. (…) As a club, we will work hard alongside Kurt to ensure that his remorse and regret turn something negative into a positive. »
