Everton manager Frank Lampard has reacted to criticism suffered by his winter signing Dele Alli, who has signed up until 2024.
Present this Monday at a press conference, the English technician defended the 25-year-old attacking midfielder, targeted for his appearance during his presentation to the supporters. The successor to Rafael Benitez does not want to judge the former Tottenham player by his attire.
“I heard some of the reactions and I have a lot of respect for everyone who spoke, former players, people I respect and admire like Ally McCoist, Alan Brazil, Glenn Hoddle. I will never go against their word. But when you work closely with the players and you work with Dele, my personal opinion is that I don’t care what car he drives, what clothes he wears, as long as I have a boy coming s train every day, wants to improve every day, respects the club, his teammates and gives everything to perform (…) As long as they are performing on the pitch, I am very happy. Everyone has their own personality and trying to handcuff or restrict that, I think, could be detrimental. »
